Sevilla vs Getafe Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | LaLiga, Matchday 2

The second round of the Spanish LaLiga ends on Monday, August 25, at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, where Sevilla and Getafe face off—two teams coming off disappointing seasons. The hosts, who narrowly avoided relegation last year, have set a modest goal of finishing mid-table this season. Their start was far from ideal, as the Rojiblancos were defeated 3-2 by Athletic Bilbao at San Mamés. Considering they were up against the fourth-best team of LaLiga 2024/25 and conceded the decisive goal only in the final minutes, Matías Almeyda’s men still performed above expectations overall. Now comes the real test against a more approachable opponent like Getafe, against whom Sevilla are unbeaten in their last four meetings. The mission is clear: secure three points against José Bordalás’ side, but without taking unnecessary risks that could leave them stuck at zero points after two rounds. On the other hand, Getafe already avoided that risk by winning their opening match against Celta Vigo. The Azulones, who have spent the last five seasons in the lower half of the table, once again aim to secure safety as early as possible, while developing young talent and building for a brighter future. Earning a second consecutive away win in LaLiga at Sevilla would be a huge confidence boost for their campaign. The second round of the Spanish LaLiga ends on Monday, August 25, at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium, where Sevilla and Getafe face off—two teams coming off disappointing seasons. Inter vs Torino Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Serie A, Matchday 1

On Monday, August 25, Cristian Chivu’s new Inter officially kicks off the 2025/26 season at San Siro, hosting Marco Baroni’s Torino in the Monday Match of Serie A’s opening round. The Nerazzurri come into this year after a season that went from dreaming of a treble to ending without a single trophy: following elimination from the Coppa Italia at the hands of AC Milan, the biggest disappointments were missing out on the Scudetto and the crushing 5-0 defeat in the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. The FIFA Club World Cup also brought no satisfaction, as they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Fluminense. The biggest change compared to last season is on the bench: Simone Inzaghi decided to leave Serie A for Al-Hilal, leaving a gap the club hopes Chivu—former Inter Primavera coach and fresh off saving Parma from relegation—can fill. In terms of the squad, no major stars have been sold, while talented youngsters like Bonny, Susic, and Luis Henrique have arrived. On the Granata side, there has been a revolution. After last season’s disappointing 11th-place finish, Paolo Vanoli was replaced by former Lazio manager Marco Baroni, with the clear objective of raising the bar after years of anonymity. Baroni has already welcomed signings such as Ngonge (whom he coached at Verona), Simeone, and Anjorin, but more moves may come before the transfer window closes. Starting away against one of the top Scudetto contenders, however, is far from easy. Still, football history tells us that it is often better to face stronger teams early on, when mechanisms and automatisms are not yet fully refined.

Newcastle vs Liverpool Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Premier League, Matchday 2

At St. James’ Park, on Monday, August 25, the highly anticipated Monday Match of Premier League Matchday 2 takes place between Newcastle and Liverpool, two teams meeting again after last March’s EFL Cup final. The hosts started their league campaign with a goalless draw away at Aston Villa, a tough ground to earn a point from. The Magpies suffered from the absence of Isak, scorer of 23 goals in last season’s Premier League, who is now on the verge of a transfer to Liverpool in the coming days. The Swedish striker has already asked to leave, with the Reds ready to splash €160 million to bring him in, though Newcastle’s board is still reluctant to part ways with their most prolific forward. On the pitch, Eddie Howe’s men showed in last March’s EFL Cup final that they can beat the Reds, although Arne Slot’s side has changed a lot since then. Liverpool, as shown by their record-breaking bid for Isak, have already spent over €300 million to reinforce the squad with the likes of Ekitiké, Frimpong, Wirtz, Kerkez, and the young Italian defender Leoni. Ironically, despite all the new attacking talent, it was Federico Chiesa who decided the first league match against Bournemouth, coming off the bench at 2-2 before Salah sealed the 4-2 win for the Reds. Given the circumstances and the tension surrounding the Isak affair, we can expect a fiery battle at St. James’ Park: Newcastle will chase their first league win, while Liverpool look to avenge their cup defeat and secure another three points in defense of their Premier League crown.

Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Premier League, Matchday 2

At Selhurst Park in London, on Sunday, August 24, Crystal Palace host Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Premier League 2025/26. The season so far has brought nothing but joy for the home side: after winning the FA Community Shield on August 10 by beating Liverpool in the final, the Glaziers held Chelsea to a 0-0 draw in their Premier League opener. Their latest success came on Thursday, August 21, when they defeated Norwegian side Fredrikstad 1-0 in the first leg of the Conference League play-off. A narrow victory that doesn’t guarantee qualification but leaves Palace with a clear advantage ahead of the second leg. Before thinking about Norway, however, Oliver Glasner’s men must focus on the tough league clash against Nottingham Forest. His goal is to capitalize on Palace’s good form to secure their first three points of the season, reaching four after two matches. In the long run, the Eagles aim to improve on the 12th place achieved last season, which nonetheless ended with their historic FA Cup triumph — the first major trophy in the club’s history. Nottingham Forest arrive in South London with a clear mission: win their second consecutive match and head into the August 31 clash against West Ham with a perfect record. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men started convincingly, beating Brentford 3-1 thanks to a brace from Chris Wood and Ndoye’s first goal in a Forest shirt after his €40m move from Bologna. With the expected arrival of Douglas Luiz from Juventus — a player who made a big impact at Aston Villa — the Tricky Trees are facing a real test. If they come through it, they could establish themselves as one of the potential surprises of the Premier League 2025/26.

Fulham vs Manchester United Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Premier League, Matchday 2

At the iconic Craven Cottage, the London stadium on the banks of the River Thames, Fulham and Manchester United are both chasing their first victory in the fixture valid for Matchday 2 of the 2025/26 Premier League season. Manchester United didn’t start the league in the best way: the Red Devils opened their campaign with a 1-0 home defeat against Arsenal, one of the main contenders for the Premier League title. Despite the loss, Amorim’s men dominated the match, conceding only due to a goalkeeper’s error. The overall performance, especially from new signings Cunha and Mbeuno, gives fans hope for a season of redemption after last year’s disappointing 15th place. With no European competitions and only one fixture per week, distractions at Old Trafford come mainly from the transfer market, with players like Rasmus Hojlund and André Onana linked with possible moves in the final days of the window. Fulham, who finished 11th in last season’s Premier League, come into this clash after salvaging a late draw away at Brighton thanks to Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz, himself recently surrounded by transfer rumors. Marco Silva’s men, heading into a Portuguese tactical derby against Ruben Amorim, aim to capitalize on home advantage and United’s struggles away from Old Trafford to put more points on the board. Until further reinforcements arrive from the market, the Cottagers have one clear goal: start strong to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle.

Manchester City vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Premier League, Matchday 2

Manchester City and Tottenham, after winning their respective Premier League openers against Wolverhampton and Burnley, face each other in one of the most anticipated clashes of Matchday 2 in the Premier League. At the Etihad Stadium, the hosts aim to build on their strong start, looking for back-to-back wins after their 4-0 victory against Wolves under Vitor Pereira. The star of that game was undoubtedly Erling Haaland, who netted a brace, but overall the City squad looked revitalized thanks to fresh energy from new signings, particularly Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki, both of whom scored on their Premier League debut. Pep Guardiola’s men want to continue in this fashion, re-establishing themselves as one of the main contenders for the Premier League title after finishing third last season behind Liverpool and Arsenal. Tottenham, on the other hand, are coming off a two-sided season: 17th in the Premier League but Europa League winners. Thanks to that European success, the Spurs secured an unexpected spot in the upcoming Champions League. The club board continues to invest heavily in the transfer market, especially to bolster their attacking options. Beyond the new arrivals, the biggest “new signing” compared to last season is the return of Richarlison, who scored two stunning goals in the 3-0 opening win against newly promoted Burnley. However, Thomas Frank’s men now face a far tougher test: regardless of the result, this will be a crucial benchmark to understand how far Spurs can go this season.

Arsenal vs Leeds Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Premier League, Matchday 2

At the Emirates Stadium in London on Saturday, August 23, Mikel Arteta's Arsenal hosts Daniel Farke's Leeds in the final fixture of Premier League Matchday 2. The Gunners, after two seasons spent in the shadow of Manchester City and Liverpool, have big ambitions and aim to bring back a trophy that has eluded them for too long. Arteta’s side started the season on the right foot, beating Manchester United 1-0 in the opening big match. Three important points, although the performance was not entirely convincing: the Red Devils probably deserved at least a draw. At this stage of the season, however, the priority is to accumulate points while fine-tuning the team’s playing style. That’s why the match against newly promoted Leeds is an important opportunity to secure a second consecutive win and stay in touch with direct competitors. Daniel Farke’s team, champions of last season’s Championship, started their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 home win over Everton, a result that gives confidence as they aim for their minimum seasonal objective: avoiding relegation. The task at the Emirates, however, looks extremely difficult. Leeds have lost or drawn 13 of their last 14 away league matches, and taking points in London will require a real feat. Arsenal, on the other hand, have lost only 2 of their last 27 Premier League matches and cannot afford any slip-ups in front of their home fans, in a season Arteta and his team want to live as protagonists both domestically and in Europe.

Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Bundesliga, Matchday 1

Friday, August 22 officially marks the start of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season, and it kicks off with a bang: in the opening match of Matchday 1 at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich will face RB Leipzig, two teams expected to fight for the top spots in the table. The Bavarians come into the new season once again as the team to beat, the number one favorite to win their second Bundesliga title in a row. Vincent Kompany’s men have already started where they left off, winning the German Super Cup by defeating Stuttgart, last season’s DFB Pokal winners. If last year Bayern proved to be unrivaled domestically, dominating the Bundesliga from start to finish, the same cannot be said about their international campaign, as they failed to go beyond the quarter-finals in both the Champions League and the Club World Cup. For Kompany, now in his second season in charge, the challenge is to maintain domestic dominance while significantly raising the bar in Europe by aiming at least for the Champions League semi-finals. RB Leipzig, on the other hand, disappointed last season, finishing seventh and missing out on European qualification. After several unsuccessful managerial changes, the Red Bulls have handed the reins to young coach Ole Werner, who finished eighth with Werder Bremen last season. The club’s stated goal is to return to the top tier of German football, securing a European spot by the end of the season. Despite selling Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United, Leipzig’s advantage will be playing only one game per week.

West Ham vs Chelsea Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Premier League, Matchday 2

The second round of the Premier League kicks off on Friday, August 22, at the London Stadium, with the early clash between West Ham and Chelsea, two teams that disappointed in their opening fixtures. Graham Potter’s side, facing his recent past, comes from a heavy 3-0 defeat away to newly promoted Southampton, while Enzo Maresca’s team did slightly better, drawing 0-0 at home against Crystal Palace. West Ham must react quickly, aiming for a league win against the Blues that has been missing for exactly two years. Securing a victory would allow Potter to keep his job and approach the upcoming fixtures with more confidence, starting with the EFL Cup match scheduled for August 26 against Wolverhampton. On the contrary, another defeat could push the club’s management to reconsider its plans and dismiss the English coach only a few weeks into the new season. Chelsea, after dropping points against Crystal Palace, also hope to come out of their second consecutive London derby with all three points in order not to fall behind the top teams after just two matchdays. The Blues’ objective, after winning the Europa Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup last season, is to challenge Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool in the Premier League title race. To do so, however, they cannot afford to lose points early on. From this perspective, the calendar is not too demanding: Chelsea could target full points against West Ham, Fulham, and Brentford before their first big clash of the season on September 26 against Manchester United.

Lincoln vs Braga Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Europa League, Qualification Playoffs

Lincoln vs Braga Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Europa League, Qualification Playoffs

At the Estádio Algarve in Faro, Lincoln dreams of making history as they host Braga in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League qualification playoff. The home side, 2024/25 champions of Gibraltar, reached this stage after being knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Red Star Belgrade and then eliminating Armenian side Noah in the second round. The double clash against Noah was tight until the very end, with penalties needed to decide who would advance. Juan Bezares’ team knows they start as underdogs against Braga, but they play with the freedom of having nothing to lose. Fresh off their Gibraltar Super Cup triumph, after a 3-0 win over Magpies last weekend, Lincoln will try to push beyond their limits to achieve what would be only their second-ever participation in a European competition, after the Europa Conference League in the 2021/22 season. Braga come in with a different status: a strong start to the season and a regular presence in European competitions in recent years. Their qualification path saw them edge past Drita thanks to a goal in extra time, before comfortably defeating CFR Cluj 4-1 on aggregate. With plenty of European experience, having taken part in continental competitions almost every year since 2010, Braga (fourth place in Liga Portugal 2024/25) approach this double clash as clear favorites. However, they must avoid underestimating Lincoln’s enthusiasm and determination to surprise.

Panathinaikos vs Samsunspor Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Europa League, Qualification Playoff

It’s a clash within the clash on Thursday, August 21, at the Spiros Louis Olympic Stadium, between the Greek giants Panathinaikos and the rising Turkish side Samsunspor. With their tradition as one of the most successful clubs in Greek football, the home side will try to use all their experience to win this two-legged tie and secure a place in the upcoming Europa League. After all, Rui Vitória’s team also made an impact in Europe last season, reaching the Round of 16 in the Conference League. The start of the season hasn’t been ideal for Panathinaikos, who began their European campaign in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers but were immediately eliminated by Rangers. The Athenians bounced back strongly in the Europa League third qualifying round, eliminating Shakhtar Donetsk on penalties, a team considered among the favorites to go far. As for the Turks, this is their first qualification match, having finished third in last season’s Super Lig ahead of stronger squads like Beşiktaş. This achievement boosted the confidence of Thomas Reis’ side, who are now dreaming big after winning their first two league matches, aiming for their first-ever historic participation in a European competition. While the Turks may lack international experience, they definitely bring more enthusiasm than the Greeks — something that could be decisive across 180 minutes.
