Como, led by Cesc Fabregas, continues to impress and will be hunting their sixth consecutive Serie A victory in the second match of Round 36 against Cagliari, aiming to secure 10th place in the standings. The Larians return to their home ground after a 1-0 away win against Parma, thanks to Gabriel Strefezza’s fifth goal of the season—he also netted the winner in Como’s last appearance at the Sinigallia Stadium against Genoa. Fabregas' side has been one of the season’s biggest surprises, having secured safety well in advance. They’re now focused on finishing in the top half of the table, defending their position from Torino and Udinese, who are both just one point behind. Cagliari, on the other hand, comes to the lakefront in search of the points needed to mathematically secure survival with two games to spare. The Sardinians currently sit seven points above 18th-placed Venezia with three rounds to go and could confirm their safety regardless of their own result—provided Venezia doesn’t get a result against Fiorentina. If not, the decisive game could be next weekend at the Unipol Domus, when Cagliari hosts Eusebio Di Francesco’s side. To avoid a tense finish, however, getting a result in Como is crucial.
Como are on a magical run in Serie A, coming off five consecutive wins. Their latest was a 0-1 away victory at Parma, with Strefezza once again the match-winner—just as he was the previous week at home against Genoa. Even more impressively, Como hasn’t conceded a goal in their last four games.
In total, Como are unbeaten in their last six matches (five wins and a draw). At home, their record stands at 7 wins, 5 draws, and 5 losses (26 of their total 45 points), averaging 1.47 goals scored and 1.35 conceded per game. They are unbeaten at the Sinigallia in their last five home fixtures, with draws against Venezia and Empoli, and wins against Napoli, Torino, and Genoa.
Cagliari lost 1-2 at home to Udinese in their last Serie A outing, missing the chance to mathematically clinch safety, though their seven-point cushion still provides comfort. Over the last five matches, the Sardinians have one win, one draw, and three losses, averaging 1 goal scored and 1.4 conceded per match.
Away from home, Cagliari has only three wins all season (from eight overall), but two of those have come in 2025: a 1-2 win at Monza and a 0-2 at Hellas Verona (their most recent away game). Their away average stands at 0.88 goals scored and 1.35 conceded per match.
Como are currently one of the most in-form sides in Serie A and have set their sights on holding on to 10th place to close the season on the left side of the table.
They’ve shown impressive defensive solidity despite the serious injury to center-back Alberto Dossena a few weeks ago, and continue to find the net regularly even without Assane Diao, who has scored 8 goals since arriving in January.
Cagliari, aside from their 0-2 success in Verona, has picked up just three draws and four defeats in their previous seven away trips, failing to score in three of those matches. Moreover, they’ve only won once in their last four visits to the Sinigallia. The reverse fixture earlier this season ended 1-1, with goals from Roberto Piccoli and Patrick Cutrone.
With key defender Yerry Mina still sidelined, Cagliari could mathematically stay in Serie A even with a loss—if both Venezia and Empoli lose their matches (against Parma and Fiorentina, respectively).
For this reason, the Como vs Cagliari prediction from the BetMines algorithm heavily favors a home win.
