At the iconic Wembley Stadium, on Thursday, November 13, England and Serbia face off in the 7th round of Group K of the UEFA World Cup Qualifiers. The two national teams arrive in opposite moods. England, already mathematically qualified thanks to a flawless run of six wins out of six, approach the match with the calm confidence of a team that has already secured first place in the group. For Serbia, however, this game is a real do-or-die in the race for second place, currently occupied by Albania with just one point ahead. The team led by Veljko Paunovic is therefore called to a tough but not impossible task: winning at Wembley to keep their playoff hopes alive and play for qualification on the final matchday against their historic rivals, Albania. Thomas Tuchel, on the other hand, could take advantage of the situation to rotate his squad and give minutes to players who have played less so far, without renouncing the goal of finishing the group stage with a perfect record. A match full of talking points is expected — England’s desire to confirm their dominance meets Serbia’s last hopes of qualification.
England are in outstanding form, coming off nine consecutive wins across World Cup Qualifiers and the UEFA Nations League. In their last match, played on October 14, they easily defeated Latvia 5-0 away, thanks to a Kane brace, goals from Gordon and Eze, and an own goal from Tonisevs, securing first place in Group K.
Thomas Tuchel’s men have been perfect so far: 18 points in six matches, averaging three goals scored per game and none conceded. The Three Lions’ main talisman remains Harry Kane, who has scored six goals in these World Cup Qualifiers. Another key factor is Jude Bellingham’s return to full fitness — his ability to break into the box from midfield makes him constantly dangerous.
England can also count on the home advantage against Serbia, having won their last four home matches (against Andorra, Latvia, Albania, and Ireland), scoring an average of three goals per game and keeping clean sheets in all. More broadly, they have lost just one of their last 13 home games in all competitions.
After losing the high-stakes match against Albania on October 11, Serbia bounced back three days later with a 3-1 away win against Andorra, keeping their chances for second place alive. Despite that victory, Serbia have suffered two defeats in their last three matches and will need a performance full of pride against England.
In their first six Group K matches, Paunovic’s side have earned 10 points from three wins, one draw, and two losses, averaging 1.17 goals scored and conceded per game. Vlahovic and his teammates have struggled to find the net against well-organized defensive teams, failing to score in both the reverse fixture against England and in their two matches against Albania.
Serbia, however, boast a solid away record, unbeaten in their last five matches on the road across World Cup Qualifiers and the UEFA Nations League (2 wins, 3 draws). Overall, they haven’t lost any of their last seven away games in World Cup Qualifiers.
Given England’s flawless form so far, the hosts are clear favorites to win the match against Serbia. The probability of an England victory is estimated at 59%, while Serbia’s chances stop at 17%.
History also favors Thomas Tuchel’s men, who have won both previous head-to-head matches against Serbia: 1-0 on June 16, 2024, and 5-0 in the reverse fixture on September 9.
Based on these previous encounters, along with England’s exceptional defensive record, BetMines tips the outcome “both teams not to score”.
Serbia’s attackers have only scored in this group against lower-ranked teams such as Latvia and Andorra. Moreover, Dusan Vlahovic — one of Paunovic’s most dangerous players — remains doubtful for this match.
For these reasons, the suggested betting tips are England to win (1) and “both teams not to score.”
ENGLAND (4-2-3-1): Pickford; James, Konsa, Stones, Burn; Anderson, Rice; Saka, Bellingham, Rashford; Kane. Coach: Tuchel
SERBIA (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Mimovic, Milenkovic, Pavlovic, Terzic; Gudelj, Lukic; Zivkovic, Samardzic, Kostic; Vlahovic. Coach: Paunovic
