They ended the last round of the championship with the same result, that is, a 3-1 away defeat: Genoa and Monza who will close the third day of the return leg on Monday evening at Marassi start from two defeats, respectively against Roma and Bologna, two KOs that were also predictable but, in the will of the two clubs, they want to erase very quickly. Monza has a greater need to get points and every game that ends with a defeat is, in fact, a missed opportunity to try to get closer to the fourth-last place while Genoa can aim to get to the middle of the table, trying first of all to distance themselves from the danger zone that, before the start of this twenty-second round, is four points away. For Vieira, there is good news from the infirmary and the French coach himself has expressed his satisfaction about it especially for the recovery of Messias and Vitinha, who can be called up while the Monza coach, Bocchetti, on the contrary, has made a very long list of unavailable players (Caldirola, Birindelli, Pessina, Gagliardini, Pablo Marì and Bondo) but he has nevertheless said he is very happy with the additions of Akpa Akpro, Lekovic and Urbanski. It is therefore evident how, also in the mastery of the two coaches, much of the present and the near future of these two teams passes that have different objectives but that for now, ultimately, look at the same point, the safety zone: Genoa to distance them as much as possible, Monza to try to get closer.
The 3-1 defeat at the Stadio Olimpico against a recovering Roma is not enough to raise the alarm: Genoa, in the last 11 games, has lost only 2 times against Napoli and Roma, therefore, the last three months of the Grifone remain certainly positive.
Overall, Genoa has totaled 5 wins, 8 draws and 8 defeats, scoring an average of 0.86 goals per game and conceding an average of 1.43 per match.
Even looking at the competitors, therefore, it is clear that the aspect that can be improved is the number of goals scored; at the starting line of this matchday, Genoa presents itself with the second-to-last attack of the championship, better only than that of Lecce and is waiting for a goal or assist from its best offensive scorer: Andrea Pinamonti who has scored 6 times so far in this Serie A.
Against Bologna, Monza suffered their 12th defeat in the championship which is also the seventh in the last 8.
The positive data for the red and whites, however, is that for the seventh consecutive match, the team managed to score, a fact that is certainly not a given for a team that is last in the standings.
In reality, even the dry data of goals conceded is not exactly what one would expect from the bottom of the table: Monza has conceded 31 goals so far in Serie A but there are 7 teams that have done worse!
Monza has to deal with many unavailabilities while, on the contrary, Genoa can smile again thanks to some recovery. This fact contributes to shifting the eve predictions towards the Grifone who, beyond the defeat against Roma, seems to be a calibrated team and capable of taking the three points in a decisive match to try to distance themselves a little from the safety zone. For this reason, the prediction of the BetMines algorithm rewards the rossoblù team more in a match that, however, the odds say is not at all obvious.
