On Tuesday, September 23, at the Ciutat de València Stadium, Levante hosts Real Madrid in the 6th round of LaLiga, the first midweek fixture of the 2025/26 Spanish league. After the first five games, the home side sits just above the relegation zone with four points but is boosted by the win in the last match against Girona. A victory here would push the Granotas up to seven points, a significant step forward in the relegation battle. A defeat, however, could drag them back into the danger zone. Real Madrid, on the other hand, have started the season perfectly: full points in LaLiga and a win in their Champions League opener. Xabi Alonso’s team is chasing a seventh consecutive victory across all competitions, aiming both to secure the top spot and to keep Barcelona at bay, and they come in as clear favorites. The former Bayer Leverkusen coach will need to keep the group focused and manage energy levels, given the packed schedule: the derby against Atletico Madrid on Saturday and the European clash with Kairat Almaty on Tuesday, September 30.
Levante come into this midweek round with plenty of momentum after their emphatic 4-0 win over Girona, thanks to goals from Eyong, Alvarez, Romero, and Koyalipou. For Fernandez’s men, it was the first win of the season after a difficult start of one draw and three defeats in the opening four rounds.
So far in LaLiga, the Granotas have averaged 1.8 goals scored and conceded per game: numbers that show a team capable of creating chances but far too fragile defensively. Unless fixed, that defensive weakness could weigh heavily in the relegation fight. Turning things around against a powerhouse like Real Madrid will be a tough ask.
After their away win at Girona, Levante will now aim for their first home victory of the season. In their two home games so far, Fernandez’s side has collected just one point: a 2-2 draw with Real Betis and a 3-2 defeat to Barcelona.
Real Madrid have enjoyed the perfect start to the new season, winning all six games across LaLiga and the Champions League. In their latest league outing, Los Blancos defeated Espanyol 2-0 with goals from Militao and Mbappé, following their 2-1 European success over Olympique Marseille in the continental opener.
Xabi Alonso’s team tops the table with maximum points and averages exactly 2 goals per game in LaLiga, led by a red-hot Mbappé with 3 goals in his last two outings. The real strength of Los Merengues, however, lies in their defense: just 2 goals conceded in the first five league rounds and already three clean sheets.
Their away record is also impressive, with three consecutive LaLiga wins on the road. Looking further back, Madrid have won six of their last seven away league matches, with the only defeat being the 4-3 thriller against Barcelona last May 11.
Levante and Real Madrid last met in the 2021/22 season, which ended with Levante’s relegation and Madrid’s LaLiga title. Those games were full of goals: a 3-3 draw at the Ciutat de València and a 6-0 win for Los Blancos at the Bernabeu. Once again, the conditions point to a lively, open game.
Levante have confirmed their defensive struggles this season (5 goals conceded in their first two home games) but have also shown attacking flair with 4 goals scored. Four of their five matches have ended with at least three total goals (Over 2.5).
Real Madrid continue at a high pace: in their two away games this season, they have averaged 2.5 goals scored (3 at Oviedo, 2 at San Sebastián). Just like the Granotas, four of their last five matches have gone Over 2.5.
Tactically, expect Alonso’s men to try and kill the game early, conserving energy ahead of Saturday’s derby against Atletico Madrid. Levante will aim to resist and strike on the counter, but the technical gap between the two squads remains clear.
According to the BetMines algorithm, a Real Madrid win has a 62% probability, compared to 17% for the home side. Considering the stats and form, the most logical betting tips point to an away win (2) and the Over 2.5 goals option.
