The postponed match of the twenty-third day of La Liga between Mallorca and Osasuna is certainly among the most exciting and intriguing that there could be. The reason is not only in the position of the two teams, tied for eighth place before the start of the round, and therefore for now deserving of a positive judgment on the championship but also and above all for the intersection between the two coaches who, both, have coached the opposing team in the past. In particular, the strongest impact concerns the current coach of Mallorca, Jagoba Arrasate who for six seasons was at the helm of the Rojillos, leaving the scene right at the end of last year but also Vicente Moreno, now at Osasuna, directed Mallorca for three years. This picture will perhaps sweeten a match that presents itself, in fact, with both contenders who have more to gain than to lose because they see sixth place, currently occupied by Vallecano, as a goal not impossible to achieve but at the same time of great value. However, the specific moments that the two teams are going through are very different, considering that Mallorca, between various cups and the championship, is on a losing streak that is starting to become heavy, while Osasuna, yes, lost their last match in the Copa del Rey but is recording a positive streak of results in La Liga worthy of note.
Mallorca have lost 5 of their last 5 official matches and, looking at the position in the standings (eighth place) of Los Bermellones, you wouldn't say so. In this "manita" we find the KOs against Altetico Madrid and Real Madrid away but also an unpredictable and heavy defeat against Pontevedra (third division team) in the Copa del Rey.
Overall, Mallorca, in La Liga, has so far collected 9 successes, only 3 draws and 10 defeats and, speaking of departments, if the defensive one is in line with expectations, the offensive one is much less so, with only 19 goals scored, it is the sixteenth in the championship.
If Mallorca is in decline, Osasuna, at least in La Liga, is certainly recovering since after the two draws against Vallecano and Las Palmas, came the beautiful victory against Real Sociedad signed by Budimir's brace (16 goals this season for the Croatian).
Real Sociedad then eliminated the Pamplona team from the Copa del Rey, which now, therefore, focuses entirely on the championship where, despite having the same points as Mallorca, they have drawn much more: 9 times to which are added 7 victories and 6 defeats.
Away from home, Osasuna suffers in a particular way or rather wins very little: only 1 success in 10 away games played in the championship.
Tied for eighth place in the standings, with technical values that seem very similar but also, probably tired from the intense schedule of these times, the match could develop as more of a study and blocked than expected. If it is true that Osasuna seems to be better than their opponents, it is also true that Moreno's team is struggling a lot away from home and, for a Mallorca that has as its first objective certainly not the show but that of returning to at least one point, this could represent a possible alignment of forces. The BetMines algorithm prediction sees with greater probability the development of a match where both teams will not score.
