Prediction published on Mar 1, 2025 1:23 AM by Dario in Italy - Serie A | Modified on Mar 1, 2025 1:53 AM
Recent results not so different but they lead to very different moods for the teams of Milan and Lazio, ready to face each other on Sunday evening at San Siro in a match that will surely count for Europe, a general term that does not only include the Champions League but also the Europa League and Conference League. After the two consecutive defeats against Torino and Bologna, starting behind in the standings and lagging behind in morale is certainly Milan who currently sees fourth place as a mirage but who must start again if they do not want to be left out of everything next season. Against them, will come a Lazio who is supposedly slowing down, which only the match at San Siro will establish whether it is real or not: the Capitoline team played against Napoli in the championship and Inter in the Italian Cup, therefore, these were two hypothetical non-victories that do not raise any alarm despite, in the middle, there was the draw in Venice. However, if Lazio wants to aim for fourth place, then, getting points in Milan becomes almost mandatory especially because Juventus, despite its troubled season, is marching in the championship and is expected to play a round (the one against Verona) that on paper will be worth three points. It will therefore not be a decisive challenge but a very important match yes: Milan and Lazio, on Sunday evening, will almost necessarily have to answer "Present".
For the second time this season, Milan has lost two consecutive games, against Torino and Bologna, which will very likely cost them the chance to play in the next Champions League.
The Devil's balance sheet, in this 2025, is now rather negative: there are already 5 defeats in the new year for Milan, who, however, looking at the San Siro record, can be optimistic; at home, the Rossoneri have been unbeaten for 13 games.
Lazio arrives at San Siro in fifth place in the standings after two completely opposite draws: against Venezia and Napoli, which, therefore, are worth a bit of regret on the one hand and full satisfaction on the other.
Away from home, Lazio has no half measures: in 13 away games played, the score is 7 wins, 5 defeats and only 1 draw, which came in the last of them, the 0-0 against Venezia which was therefore a double exception because, in general, Lazio scores a lot (third best attack in the championship) but also concedes a lot (tenth best defense in Serie A).
Lazio, who have won many away games in this championship, know they are facing a wounded, vulnerable and beatable Milan even if, the Devil, not only has a more than positive performance at home but will be animated, perhaps, by a necessary jolt of pride. From the point of view of the standings, then, for Milan, a draw would really be of no use, therefore, there are several reasons why, it seems easier to see several goals in the match. The prediction of the BetMines algorithm therefore marries the idea of a match with at least three goals.
