Determined, convinced that they can get a result given the good start of 2025, Roma and Genoa are trying to add another positive piece to this start of the year that has brought back confidence both in the Capital and in Genoa. Both teams seem to have had the same type of help, namely that of the change of coach which, points in hand, is actually proving to be a factor. For Roma, tenth, in reality the objective is still far away and a few positions away and is difficult to reach given the many negative results accumulated in the first part of the championship while for Genoa, eleventh place cannot be unsatisfactory, both overall and for a team that at the end of October was at the bottom of the table. It will also be, therefore, a challenge between coaches who are currently doing well, certainly with a huge gap in experience but with a path that has been common in England and specifically in London for many years given that when Claudio Ranieri coached Chelsea, Patrick Vieira was the fulcrum of the Arsenal midfield.
The last-minute draw in Bologna has certainly boosted Roma's morale, which, while keeping the number of away wins at 0, has increased the number of consecutive useful matches to 5 (3 wins and 2 draws).
In Serie A, for now, Roma is in the middle, in tenth place, while the record is still unbalanced downwards, with 6 wins, 6 draws and 8 defeats, as well as almost equal (but this time tending towards the positive) the comparison between goals scored and goals conceded (28 vs 26).
The balance of Roma's last 5 home games is entirely positive, with 5 wins.
Genoa is eleventh in the standings, but some data, recent and not, tend to push this already good position upwards. In fact, despite not scoring much, Genoa scores points and loses very little! There is only 1 defeat (against the league leaders Napoli) in the last 10 games played.
The Grifone's score is also more than good considering only the games played away with 4 successes in 9 games away from Marassi, that is a percentage of notable victories close to 50% which, looking at the last 5 away games, becomes even higher given the 3 victories counted in this period.
The feeling is that two square teams will face each other and, also given the positive period, they will be able to approach this match without anxiety but with great attention. Ranieri himself, in the pre-match press conference, called on his Roma to conduct themselves in a way that sometimes must be more cautious while Genoa, in general and away from home, is careful and tends to play low-scoring matches. For these factors, the BetMines prediction is for a match where at least one of the two teams will not score a goal.
Roma (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Saelemaekers, Paredes, Koné, Angelino; Pellegrini, Dybala; Dovbyk. Coach: Ranieri.
