After the international break, LaLiga returns to action at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán with the opening match of Matchday 4 between Sevilla and Elche, currently sitting 12th and 7th in the table respectively. The home side need a win to build on their victory just before the break against Girona, in order to move away from the relegation zone and, why not, start dreaming of a possible return to Europe after some disappointing seasons. The visitors arrive in Andalusia still unbeaten and fresh off their first league win against Levante, and they certainly won’t want to stop now as they look to stay in the upper mid-table. Even though it’s still early in the season, these are already important points that could prove decisive in the race for both teams’ objectives. With a win, Sevilla would overtake Elche in the standings, while Sarabia’s team could move close to the very top spots, making a strong case as the surprise package of LaLiga 2025/26. Let’s not forget, this is a newly promoted side. Everything points to a tense and balanced match, just like the last meeting on May 24, 2023, which ended 1-1 with Sevilla reduced to ten men after just 18 minutes.
After losing their first two league games, Sevilla finally picked up their first win in the last round, beating Girona 2-0 away thanks to goals from Alfon Gonzalez and Isaac Romero. Alongside the scorers, Swiss winger Ruben Vargas also impressed with two assists, proving a constant threat down the flanks.
With this win, the Andalusians climbed to 12th place with 3 points, two above the relegation zone and three behind 6th-placed Getafe. In their first three LaLiga matches, Almeyda’s men have both scored and conceded an average of 1.67 goals per game, keeping a clean sheet only once.
In their only home match so far this season, Sevilla lost 2-1 to Getafe. This poor home form is nothing new: since the start of 2025, they have only managed one win at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán, a 1-0 success against Las Palmas back on May 13.
In the last round of LaLiga, Elche claimed their first victory, beating Levante 2-0 at home thanks to second-half goals from Rodrigo Mendoza and Rafa Mir. During the international break, Sarabia’s men played a friendly against Real Murcia (Tercera División), losing 3-1.
After three league games, the Green-and-Whites surprisingly sit 7th with 5 points, coming from one win and two draws. Their defense has been the key so far, conceding only 2 goals in total, an average of 0.67 per match. The attack is also showing consistency, scoring an average of 1.33 goals per game.
In their only away game of the season, Elche managed to hold Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, continuing their strong away record with just one defeat in their last eight games on the road.
The prediction for Sevilla vs Elche points to a very balanced match, with no clear favorite. According to the BetMines algorithm, Sevilla’s chances of winning are 35%, while Elche’s are 36% — showing just how tight this game could be.
Given how evenly matched the teams look, the spectacle might suffer. For this reason, the tips from BetMines suggest betting on Under 2.5 goals, expecting a low-scoring match with no more than two goals in total, as has happened in five of the last six meetings between these two sides.
Another factor supporting the Under 2.5 goals prediction is that both Sevilla and Elche kept clean sheets in their last league outings, showing improved defensive organization.
