It started with the premise of being the most explosive and spectacular of the four Nations League Quarter Finals, entertaining and technical: Holland - Spain in the first act on Thursday night, respected all of this and, in the second that will be played at the Mestalla in Valencia, will have the chance to confirm it. The first round ended in a draw, 2-2, and it was a draw that certainly smiled more on Spain, both because, between the two, it was the national team that avoided defeat in the final (Merino's goal in the 93rd minute) and because it was the one playing away: the Red Furies, now, will have the home advantage on their side (decisive in recent months for De la Fuente's team). Holland, certainly, performed very well, they were able to react to the initial disadvantage by playing a first half that was really high level, closing ahead thanks to goals by Gakpo and Rejinders but then, in the second half, they understandably suffered the Spanish comeback, demonstrating, after all, that they give their best when they have to propose. For Spain, it is probably the same: extraordinary in the attack phase, decidedly more fragile in defense. If the score on Sunday night is similar to that of De Kuip, then, the show will be guaranteed.
Spain starts at home and, at home, has some crazy numbers: 10 wins and 1 draw in the last 11 games.
It has been said that Spain is reliable, in this period, more in attack than in defense: Furie Rosse, in fact, always on target in the last 6 matches with 15 goals.
With the Nations League, Spain, has an important feeling: undefeated in the last 10 and winners in the 5 previous to the draw in the first leg in Holland.
A recent series of 1 win, 3 draws and 1 defeat in the last 5 is not particularly exciting for Holland, who, however, in the first half against Spain shot 7 times. And there are always 7 times in which, in the last 11 games, Holland has scored at least 2 goals.
In their last 9 away games in the Nations League, the Netherlands have lost only once, while in their last 3 away games against 3 big teams (2 against Germany, 1 against France), the Orange have always lost.
The challenge for the Netherlands will be to try to have the same approach, the same start to the match as in the first leg to put Spain in difficulty, but they arrive at the match with the right confidence both for the last-gasp recovery and for the home advantage. It is therefore legitimate to expect another lively, offensive and lively match: the stars of both national teams are certainly more in the two advanced departments and the nature of the two teams is certainly offensive. Also for this reason, the BetMines algorithm prediction more easily sees a match with at least three goals in total:
Spain (4-3-3): Simon; Porro, Le Normand, Huijsen, Cucurella; Pedri, Zubimendi, Merino; Yamal, Morata, Nico Williams. Coach: De la Fuente.
Netherlands (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Frimpong, Van Hecke, Van Dijk, Geertruida; Reijnders, De Jong; Simons, Kluivert, Gakpo; Depay. Coach: Koeman.
