Matchday 7 of the 2025/26 LaLiga season concludes with the Monday, September 29 fixture between Valencia and Real Oviedo, two teams seeking crucial points to achieve their respective seasonal goals. The home side is aiming for their third consecutive positive result in the league, which could place them close to the European qualification zone. With a victory, Carlos Corberán’s men would rise to 11 points after the first six rounds, making a significant leap forward and boosting their chances of redeeming the last disappointing seasons, even though repeating the two fourth-place finishes of 2017/18 and 2018/19 seems challenging. The target seems achievable as newly promoted Real Oviedo, sitting at the bottom with 3 points tied with Girona (who has played one game more), visits Mestalla. Given their delicate situation, Paunović’s team is under pressure to secure points to move up the table and prove they deserve to stay in the top division at the end of the season. However, winning at Valencia, one of the toughest stadiums in LaLiga, will not be easy.
Valencia seems to have regained confidence after the heavy 6-0 defeat against Barcelona on September 14. In the last two rounds, Carlos Corberán’s men collected two positive results: first, a convincing 2-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao, followed by a 2-2 draw away at Espanyol.
After six LaLiga matches, Los Che have accumulated 8 points with a balanced record of two wins, two draws, and two losses, reflecting an inconsistent performance.
The offensive department has been impressive: already 8 goals scored, 4 of which came in the last two games, thanks mainly to an inspired Hugo Duro, who has netted 3 goals.
On the other hand, the defense continues to be a weak point, having conceded 10 goals—an average of over 1.5 per match—often nullifying the efforts made in attack.
Newly promoted Real Oviedo has had a difficult start to the season, with only one win and five losses in the first six LaLiga matches. In the latest midweek round, Veljko Paunović’s team suffered their third consecutive defeat, losing 3-1 at home to Hansi Flick’s Barcelona after previous losses to Getafe and Elche.
The Azules are second-to-last in the league with just 3 points, earned from their home win against Real Sociedad on August 30. The biggest concern is the attacking line, the weakest in the entire league with only 2 goals scored (an average of 0.33 per game).
Defense has not been any better: Real Oviedo has already conceded 11 goals, almost 2 per game, showing major difficulties in competing with stronger opponents. It seems the team, which finished third in last season’s LaLiga 2, still needs time to adapt to the pace and demands of the top division.
According to the BetMines algorithm, Valencia is the clear favorite to win against Real Oviedo.
Carlos Corberán’s side can rely on home advantage: in their last nine home matches, they have lost only once, and historically, they have never been defeated by Real Oviedo at Mestalla, despite the two teams not facing each other for over 25 years.
Real Oviedo, on the other hand, has lost all their away games so far and has never managed to score away from home. The potential absence of Nacho Vidal, a defensive pillar and one of the key players in the promotion campaign, represents an additional problem for Paunović’s side, making the task even more difficult against a well-organized and dangerous attacking team like Valencia.
Considering the gap between the two teams and the home advantage, the Valencia vs Real Oviedo prediction points to a clear home victory.
