Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Europa League Final

On Wednesday, May 21, at San Mamés Stadium in Bilbao, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United will have one last opportunity to salvage their disappointing seasons by winning the UEFA Europa League and securing a spot in next season’s Champions League. Spurs, currently sitting 17th in the Premier League, reached this final after finishing fourth in the single-round group stage, right behind Manchester United, with a record of 5 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss. In the knockout rounds, Postecoglou’s men eliminated AZ Alkmaar with a 3-2 aggregate in the Round of 16, then defeated Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, they comfortably overcame Bodo/Glimt, winning 3-1 at home and 2-0 in Norway. Apart from a scare against Frankfurt, Spurs’ European campaign has been relatively smooth, giving them a chance to win their third Europa League title (formerly UEFA Cup) after victories in 1972 and 1984. The Red Devils, sitting 16th in the Premier League, had a similar group stage, finishing third with 5 wins and 3 draws. In the Round of 16, Ruben Amorim’s side demolished Real Sociedad, but the turning point came in the quarter-finals against Olympique Lyon, where they overturned a two-goal deficit in stoppage time to reach the semi-finals. There, they cruised past Athletic Bilbao with a dominant 7-1 aggregate victory. Back to the Bilbao final: both teams will give it their all to lift the trophy and secure a Champions League spot, potentially redeeming an otherwise forgettable season. The loser, however, will have to quickly move on from one of the worst campaigns in recent memory.

Manchester City vs Bournemouth Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Premier League

After Saturday’s heartbreaking FA Cup final loss against Crystal Palace, Manchester City must quickly turn the page and focus on another decisive match for their season. At the Etihad Stadium, in a game valid for Matchday 37 of the Premier League, Pep Guardiola’s men host Bournemouth with one clear goal: to win and secure a top-five finish, thus booking their place in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League. This clash against the Cherries is one of the many turning points in what has been a disappointing campaign for the Citizens. Apart from winning the Community Shield last August, they failed to win any other silverware, never posed a serious threat for the Premier League title — comfortably won by Liverpool — and exited the Champions League in the round of 16 playoffs against one of the weakest Real Madrid sides in recent memory. Now, with two games left, the only remaining target is the minimum objective set at the start of the season: finish in the top five. It’s an achievable mission, as they sit sixth, just one point behind fifth place and with one game in hand over their direct rivals. City must win both their final matches against Bournemouth and Fulham before shifting focus to the Club World Cup and what promises to be an eventful transfer window. Club legend Kevin De Bruyne is already set to leave, marking the end of an era. As for Bournemouth, currently tenth, they lost any chance of qualifying for Europe due to City’s defeat in the FA Cup final. A City win would’ve opened a European spot for the ninth-placed team. Andoni Iraola’s men travel to Manchester with nothing to lose and aiming for another impressive away result after beating Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates earlier this month. Meanwhile, the Cherries have all but completed their first major summer transfer: Real Madrid have activated the €60 million release clause to sign Spanish international defender Dean Huijsen.

Crystal Palace vs Wolverhampton Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Premier League

Last Saturday at Wembley, Crystal Palace made history by defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final, securing the first major trophy in the club’s history. The Eagles struck first with a clinical counterattack goal from Eberechi Eze and held off Manchester City’s relentless attacks, with goalkeeper Dean Henderson saving a crucial penalty from Marmoush. Now, in the rescheduled fixture of the 37th round of the Premier League, Crystal Palace will have the chance to celebrate their remarkable achievement in front of their home fans as they host Wolverhampton at Selhurst Park. The Wolves come into the game with little to play for, having no objectives left this season. Throughout the campaign, Crystal Palace have showcased a strong defensive structure, which proved key in lifting the FA Cup. They’ve also seen standout performances from top talents like Eze and Mateta, both of whom have caught the eye of elite Premier League clubs and others abroad. On the other hand, Wolverhampton began May in poor form, losing to Manchester City and Brighton after an unbeaten run through March and April. The recent dip indicates that the team is already looking ahead to next season. Supporters hope for defensive reinforcements—Wolves’ Achilles' heel all season long—to compete for a European spot after five mid-table finishes. Alternatively, they might aim to follow Crystal Palace’s example by chasing silverware in domestic cups such as the FA Cup or the EFL Cup.

Salernitana vs Frosinone Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Serie B

Salernitana vs Frosinone Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Serie B

Monday, May 18, at the Stadio Arechi, marks the first leg of the Serie B relegation playout, which will determine the fourth team—after Cosenza, Cittadella, and Sampdoria—to be relegated to Serie C. Facing off are two teams that, exactly a year ago, were both playing in Serie A and now find themselves fighting to avoid a further drop: Salernitana and Frosinone. The hosts have never really looked like a side capable of bouncing straight back to the top flight, but few would have predicted they'd be battling until the final round to avoid relegation to the third tier. In a desperate attempt to reverse course, Salernitana went through four different managers this season: Martusciello, Colantuono, Breda, and Marino—but without the desired results. Now, however, it's not the time for reflection in Salerno. The sole focus is to overcome the two-legged tie against Frosinone, knowing that they must start strong at home: due to finishing just one point behind in the table, Frosinone would remain in Serie B in the event of an aggregate draw, while Salernitana would drop to Serie C after ten years. Frosinone, who were relegated from Serie A last season on the final day, hinted early on that this would be a tough campaign near the bottom rather than the top. Much like Salernitana, their board also attempted to shake things up—sacking Vivarini after just nine matches and replacing him first with Greco, then Bianco—but without much improvement. Survival was up in the air until the last day, when a surprise win earned them a place in this playoff. Paolo Bianco’s men enter this tie with a slight advantage: having finished with one more point, they would avoid relegation in the case of an aggregate draw over 180 minutes.

Brighton vs Liverpool Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Premier League

The 37th round of the Premier League wraps up at the Falmer Stadium, where hosts Brighton face off against the newly crowned Premier League champions, Liverpool. The two teams meet more than six months after the reverse fixture, which proved to be a turning point in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign, sealed with four matches to spare. Back in that Matchday 10 clash, Liverpool pulled off a stunning comeback within two minutes (from the 70th to 72nd), overturning Kadioglu’s opener with goals from Gakpo and Salah. That comeback, one of many throughout the season, was crucial—especially as both Arsenal and Manchester City dropped points on the same weekend, giving the Reds a significant advantage that they never relinquished. Since clinching the title early, Arne Slot's team has visibly lowered its intensity, evidenced by a recent loss to Chelsea and a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in their last outing. The Dutch manager, who has proven himself a worthy successor to Jurgen Klopp, is now focused on planning for the next season, where Liverpool will aim to contend in both the Premier League and Champions League. Despite a strong start in Europe this year, the Reds were eliminated in the Round of 16 by a top-tier Paris Saint-Germain side that went on to reach the final. As for Brighton, their season has played out in mid-table. Despite seven European spots up for grabs in the Premier League, the Seagulls never quite looked capable of making a serious push. Defensive frailty has been their Achilles' heel, and should Fabian Hürzeler be confirmed as manager for next season, he is expected to request reinforcements in the back line. In attack, however, players like Welbeck, João Pedro, and Mitoma have delivered consistently. With no further goals to chase this season, Brighton will still be motivated to give their fans a proper farewell before their final away trip to Tottenham. Securing ninth place (an improvement on last season’s 11th) and claiming a prestigious result against the newly crowned champions would be a fitting end to their campaign.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | La Liga

Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | La Liga

At Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, Sunday, May 18, Atletico Madrid will welcome Real Betis, Conference League finalists and still fighting for a Champions League spot. After securing their qualification for the next UEFA Champions League (UCL) season, Simeone’s men have the sole objective of protecting third place from the attacks of Athletic Bilbao. Considering last summer’s investments in players like Alvarez, Sorloth, and Gallagher, this season cannot be defined as positive: elimination in the Champions League Round of 16 by Real Madrid, exit in the Copa del Rey semifinals against Barcelona, and never really in contention with Barça and the Blancos for the title. Fortunately for Atletico Madrid fans, only two matchdays remain before their team competes in the first edition of the FIFA Club World Cup and before the club management makes the moves needed to be protagonists next season. The situation is different for Real Betis, who in this season finale are still in the race for fifth place, although a miracle is needed to close the five-point gap with Villarreal with only two matches left. More importantly, they still have the chance to win the first international trophy in their history by claiming the Conference League in the final on May 28 against Chelsea. Even if they fail to recover in the league, Manuel Pellegrini’s side can still consider the season positive: sixth place currently guarantees at least Europa League qualification, an improvement from last year’s seventh place.

Arsenal vs Newcastle Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Premier League

Arsenal vs Newcastle Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Premier League

The clash between Arsenal and Newcastle, valid for Matchday 37 of the Premier League, is a true head-to-head for second place and a decisive step toward securing a spot in next season’s Champions League. The hosts, currently second in the table with just a two-point lead over Newcastle, must bounce back from a difficult run of form and rediscover a win they’ve been missing in the league for over a month. The Gunners, who have picked up just two points in their last three Premier League games, cannot afford any more slip-ups. A defeat or even a draw could not only cost them second place but also jeopardize Champions League qualification, considering sixth place is just five points behind with six points still available. A win over Newcastle – despite the crucial absence of suspended midfielder Mikel Merino – would all but seal their place in Europe’s top competition. The Magpies, after a slow start to the season, have shifted gears since November and now find themselves with a realistic chance of finishing second behind Liverpool. After beating the Reds in the EFL Cup Final last March, Eddie Howe’s men have grown in confidence and arrive in London focused solely on leapfrogging Arsenal. They’ve already beaten the Gunners three times this season across all competitions, and a repeat performance would see them move one point ahead with just one match to go. Any result other than a win, given the tight standings among the Champions League hopefuls, would force Newcastle to play for their European future next week at St. James’ Park against Everton.

Nice vs Brest Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Ligue 1

Nice vs Brest Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Ligue 1

After losing 2-0 away to Rennes last Saturday, Nice squandered their chance to fight for direct qualification to the next Champions League on the final matchday. The gap to third place has grown to four points with just one game remaining, meaning the only achievable goal now is to hold onto fourth place, which still grants access to the Champions League qualifiers—a great achievement considering last season they finished fifth and qualified for the Europa League. However, nothing is secured yet. Nice needs a win in this final match against Brest, a team with nothing left to play for this season, to avoid being overtaken at the finish line by Lille and Strasbourg, who are level on points but behind on goal difference—or even by Olympique Lyon, who sit three points behind in seventh. Sitting atop this cluster of teams, Franck Haise’s side controls its own fate and will take the pitch with one clear objective: securing all three points. Their opponents, Brest, after surprising everyone last season with an unexpected third-place finish, have returned to a more familiar level of performance this year. The team likely struggled with the demands of playing two matches per week. Even without any remaining league ambitions, Brest has been honoring the competition, coming off back-to-back wins against Montpellier and Reims. While all the motivation lies with the home side, don’t expect Roy’s men to show up on the French Riviera already in vacation mode.

RB Leipzig vs VfB Stuttgart Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Bundesliga

RB Leipzig, hosting VfB Stuttgart in the final matchday of the Bundesliga, still have a chance to qualify for European competition by sneaking into the top six. Zsolt Löw’s side, underwhelming this season after finishing fourth last year, has only one path to sixth place: they must beat Stuttgart—ending a four-match winless streak—and hope Mainz slip up against Bayer Leverkusen. If this combination plays out, the Red Bulls would secure a spot in next season’s UEFA Europa Conference League—a clear step down from the Champions League target set at the start of the season. Reaching a European cup at this point is the only way Sesko and teammates can salvage a campaign marred by inconsistency and capped by the sacking of Marco Rose on March 30. Rose had been at the helm since September 2022. After Sunday, Leipzig’s management is expected to reflect on what went wrong and start planning for the upcoming season. Stuttgart, meanwhile, are another major disappointment this season when compared to their stunning second-place finish last year. Now sitting ninth and mathematically out of European qualification through the league, Toppmöller’s squad still has one final card to play: the DFB Pokal final on May 24. A win over surprise finalists Arminia Bielefeld would earn them a place in next season’s UEFA Europa League, marking back-to-back European campaigns.

Borussia Dortmund vs Holstein Kiel Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Bundesliga

With one matchday remaining, the Bundesliga is heating up in the race for the final two Champions League spots. While Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen have long secured their place in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League, three teams—Eintracht Frankfurt, SC Freiburg, and Borussia Dortmund—are battling it out for third and fourth place in the final 90 minutes. Heading into the last round, they sit at 57, 55, and 54 points respectively. Fate has orchestrated a thrilling direct clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg, while Borussia Dortmund face a theoretically easier fixture at home against already relegated Holstein Kiel. On Saturday, May 17, at Signal Iduna Park, Niko Kovac’s side have one clear objective: win and wait for a favorable result from Freiburg. The Black and Yellows are finishing the season strongly, with four straight wins that have amplified the regret over a campaign that could have delivered much more. With 90 minutes left, Dortmund’s last chance to salvage their season is by qualifying for next year’s Champions League, a competition they reached the final of just last year against Real Madrid. Holstein Kiel, already condemned to Bundesliga 2, arrive in Dortmund with their focus likely on next season and a quick return to the top flight. Despite their fate, Marcel Repp’s squad have been putting up respectable performances, earning two wins and a draw in their last four matches. However, motivation will lie entirely with Dortmund, who must win to avoid throwing away their entire season.

Flamengo vs LDU Quito Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Copa Libertadores

Flamengo vs LDU Quito Prediction: Preview and Analysis of the Match | Copa Libertadores

At the legendary and iconic Maracanã Stadium, Flamengo hosts Ecuadorian side LDU Quito on Matchday 5 of Group C in the Copa Libertadores. Both teams are aiming to finish in the top two to secure direct qualification to the Round of 16, avoiding the preliminary playoff round. The Brazilian side currently sits third in the group and must win this game to catch up with LDU Quito, pushing the qualification decision to the final matchday when they will face Venezuelan side Deportivo Táchira, currently bottom of the group with zero points from five games. Flamengo, three-time Copa Libertadores champions, has started well in the Brasileirão Serie A Betano, currently second behind Palmeiras after eight rounds. In June, they will also be among the top contenders in the FIFA Club World Cup, so Filipe Luis's squad is keen to avoid the extra burden of playing the Libertadores playoff round. On the other hand, LDU Quito, currently fourth in the Ecuadorian LigaPro Ecuabet after eleven matches, comes to Rio de Janeiro three points ahead of Flamengo. A win would not only seal their qualification but potentially bring them level on points with Central Córdoba, pushing Flamengo into a high-pressure final fixture. Getting a result in Brazil, however, will not be easy—both because of Flamengo's historical pedigree in the competition and due to their high-quality squad, featuring stars like Uruguayan playmaker Giorgian de Arrascaeta, and experienced ex-Juventus defenders Danilo and Alex Sandro.
