Athletic Bilbao vs Roma Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis - Europa League

Athletic Bilbao vs Roma Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis - Europa League

In view of the return leg of the Europa League Round of 16, in a San Mames that promises to be hotter than ever, Roma is starting again from the gift acquired thanks to Shomurodov's goal in injury time that was worth the narrow victory in the first leg against Athletic Bilbao and which therefore gives a small but very important advantage to the Giallorossi in view of the return match. In a preliminary round that already on the eve seemed among the most balanced, the first round confirmed the hypotheses and leaves everything open in terms of qualification even if it will be the Basque team that will have the burden of trying to win, a situation that, at home, comes rather naturally to them. In fact, there are very few internal slip-ups that Athletic Bilbao have had so far this season, therefore, Roma knew and knows that Thursday night's match could be a game of great suffering. Ranieri, who will have to give up Celik, brings with him some doubts about the formation, mainly linked to the use of Dybala while Valverde will not have one of the senators, the central defender Alvarez, sent off at the Olimpico but will be able to count on all his aces up front for the comeback attempt in a match that, even if it is "only" that of a Round of 16, is leaving many clues that it can be fought, struggled and longed for like few others. The prospect of playing the Europa League final at home is an incredible stimulus for the Spaniards but in front of them will be a Roma, who from match to match is acquiring awareness and strength both in individuals and in the group.

Lille vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Champions League

Lille vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction: Match Preview and Analysis | Champions League

Among the first-leg matches of the Champions League Round of 16, only one ended in a draw: last Tuesday’s clash at the Westfalenstadion between Borussia Dortmund and Lille. The result was surprising, as the German side failed to capitalize on home advantage, leaving the pitch to the whistles of their worried fans. The 1-1 draw from the first leg—featuring goals from Adeyemi and Haraldsson—forces both teams to go for the win to qualify for the next round, where they will face the winner of Benfica vs Barcelona. This result plays into the hands of Lille, who have been formidable at home during this Champions League campaign, remaining unbeaten at the Stade Pierre Mauroy. In the group stage (where they surprisingly finished 7th), they recorded three wins and one draw at home. Their strength at home is evident—on October 2nd, they managed to defeat Real Madrid 1-0. Reaching the quarter-finals would be a historic achievement for Lille, but it won’t be an easy task against the Champions League runners-up. Borussia Dortmund have been inconsistent away from home in this UCL campaign, but they have shown they can step up in crucial moments—such as their 3-0 victory over Sporting in the playoff round. This sets up an unpredictable second leg, where the key question remains: will experience prevail, or will Lille’s hunger for success shine through?

Inter vs Feyenoord Prediction: Preview and Tactical Analysis - Champions League

Inter vs Feyenoord Prediction: Preview and Tactical Analysis - Champions League

They passed with flying colors the test that was supposed to be the most difficult of the two and now they are awaiting a confirmation that seems much easier: Inter hosts Feyenoord for the return leg of the Champions League Round of 16 after the 0-2 defeat at De Kuip with, potentially, three results out of three available because even losing by a one-goal margin they would still advance to the next round. An excellent scenario, therefore, for Simone Inzaghi's team who beat Feyenoord in a match in the style of Inter 2024/2025 in its best version: suffering, solidity, cynicism, shots from their champions. The ending could have been more rounded if Zielinski had not missed the penalty for 0-3 but the double advantage can still satisfy Inter who, in the most delicate phase of the season, is trying to dose physical and psychological energy to strike on all three fronts. Against, a Feyenoord that rested in the Eredivisie and was therefore able to concentrate even more to attempt what would be a super feat that, it is difficult, can find a foothold by looking at this year's Inter (who in reality have only had one real skid, that of Florence against Fiorentina) but that, if it can find a foundation, has it in the 3-0 inflicted by the Dutch on Bayern Munich even if it was in the initial round and, at home: two details that are certainly not indifferent that, in any case, will not make the Nerazzurri underestimate their commitment.
